Evangelos Marinakis now wants to move ‘sensational’ 34-year-old from Forest to Olympiacos

Nottingham Forest defender Felipe has emerged as a transfer target for Olympiacos. The centre-back hasn’t played a competitive fixture for the Reds during the 2023/24 campaign.

Felipe arrived at Forest during the January transfer window in 2023 and he apparently cried tears of joy. He was instrumental in the club securing their Premier League survival and he signed an 18-month contract with the Reds.

Right now, Felipe isn’t playing for Forest. There has been talk that he’s been injured and his only game this season has been when he played for 60 minutes against Harrogate in the EFL Trophy.

Olympiacos want Felipe

According to a report by Sportal in Greece, the Greek outfit are keen to bolster their defensive ranks in January. Evangelos Marinakis is keen to move Felipe from Forest to Olympiacos once the window reopens.

It’s an intriguing one with Felipe at Forest. He was so instrumental last season but this season it would appear that he’s started the campaign injured and has been unable to get himself fit to play.

At the end of August, Felipe was spotted back in Forest training. As a result, it was anticipated that he might start playing a part in the team but that hasn’t been the case.

Forest would be wise to let Felipe go

If he’s not fit enough to play, then the club would be wise to get Felipe off the wage budget. The player was called ‘sensational’ by Stephen Kelly but at 34-years-old he is earning £72,000-a-week at Forest.

Now, the Reds have other players willing to deputise for him defensively. Moussa Niakhate has managed to stay fit and he’s striking up a decent partnership with Murillo. Willy Boly, Joe Worrall, Scott McKenna and Andrew Omobamidele are also at the club.

Olympiacos naturally have a healthy relationship with Forest. As a result, it makes perfect sense for Felipe to leave Forest and head to Greece during the January transfer window if he’s not going to play at the City Ground.
