Nottingham Forest defender Andrew Omobamidele played 90 minutes for the Republic of Ireland in their 1-1 draw with New Zealand last night.
The 21-year-old, who is yet to feature for Steve Cooper’s side, partnered Shane Duffy at the centre of defence – with Omobamidele producing a solid performance.
Omobamidele made 44 passes out of his 48 attempted – a completion rate of 92%, whilst winning two of his three aerial battles against fellow Red Chris Wood.
The former Norwich City man also made six clearances as he helped preserve a draw despite his nation taking an early first-half lead.

Irish media on Omobamidele
After the final whistle, the Irish Times released their player ratings for the match with New Zealand, with Forest defender Omobamidele receiving praise for one aspect of his game.

Andrew Omobamidele (Nottingham Forest)
His pace got him out of trouble when Wood robbed him early in the second half and his distribution was decent for the most part. Rating: 6
The game was Omobamidele’s first full 90 minutes for club or country since August, with the defender bound to be slightly rusty.
However, his ball-playing abilities may be of use to Cooper upon his return to Forest before the weekend.
Omobamidele to replace Murillo this weekend?
With Murillo limping off against West Ham United before the international break, it is unknown whether the Brazilian will be fit to face Brighton on Saturday.
If Murillo is ruled out, a Forest debut could be handed to Omobamidele who has waited patiently for his opportunity at the City Ground.
His display last night proved what he’s capable of on the ball, with boss Cooper looking to implement a more possession-based tactic in the coming months.
