‘Looking forward’… Murillo says he can’t wait to come up against £60m Tottenham player

Nottingham Forest central defender Murillo has said that he wants to face Tottenham Hotspur forward Richarlison.

Murillo has added that he is looking forward to facing Manchester City striker Erling Haaland as well.

The 21-year-old Brazilian central defender has noted that he has already played against Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah.

Murillo has been on the books of Nottingham Forest since the summer of 2023 when he joined from Brazilian club Corinthians.

Murillo told The Telegraph: “My objective is to come out on top and be the best, whoever I am up against.

“I have already marked Mo Salah, and my mum loves him! I’m also looking forward to facing Richarlison and [Erling] Haaland.

“These are the players you want to test yourself against. I hate losing and winning is everything.”

Murillo shows his mentality

In my view, Nottingham Forest central defender Murillo publicly saying that he wants to face the likes of Erling Haaland and Richarlison shows his strong mentality.

Haaland is one of the best strikers on the planet who scores goals for fun. The Norway international is one of the most lethal players in the world.

Yet, Murillo wants to test himself against the Manchester City striker. That shows the kind of personality that he has. He is already doing well for the Reds.

Interestingly, Murillo is also looking forward to playing against his Brazilian compatriot Richarlison.

Richarlison is one of the better forwards out there who is also a regular for Brazil. The 26-year-old has scored 20 goals in 48 matches for his country so far in his career.

The Tottenham forward was actually criticised by Forest manager Steve Cooper last season.

After Forest’s defeat to Tottenham in August 2022, Cooper, who is under pressure at the moment, slammed Richarlison for seeingly taunting the Forest defenders by juggling the ball on the left wing.

The City fans were not impressed. Cooper said that he would not accept any of his Forest players doing that.

Richarlison has been on the books of Tottenham since the summer of 2022 when he joined from Everton for £60 million (Sky Sports).

The forward, who is injured at the moment, has not had the best of times at Spurds and has struggled for goals for the North London club.
