Fulham manager Marco Silva would be the dream appointment for the Nottingham Forest hierarchy if Steve Cooper gets the sack.
That’s according to a Q&A done by The Athletic reporter and Forest fan Daniel Taylor over the last 24 hours.
Cooper is edging close to the trap door following a 5-0 defeat at Fulham on Wednesday. The game saw Evangelos Marinakis leave early and dump his matchday pass in a bush outside.
Now, the speculation begins over who will take over from Cooper if Forest lose at Wolves. Taylor believes that Silva would be the perfect appointment for Marinakis at Forest.
Taylor outlines dream Forest managerial appointment
A Q&A yesterday regarding Forest over on The Athletic and Cooper was the hot topic among many supporters.
Forest have gone backwards this season and although they have more points than 12 months ago, it’s just one win in 11 games for the club.
Taylor was asked who he thought the club wanted to take over from the 43-year-old should he get the heave-ho in the coming days.
His answer was somewhat speculative, however, he does know who Marinakis would love to see in charge of Forest in the near future.
He told The Athletic: “We have to be realistic and if this is the end of Cooper, do you know who they would love to get? Their first choice, in an ideal world, would be Marco Silva.

“I remember during Vrentzos’ time as Forest’s chief executive how he used to rave about Silva from their time together at Olympiacos. They absolutely loved him.
“The same mentality, a very natural fit, and immense respect. The dream, I was told, was to be in the Premier League with Silva as the manager.”
Silva to Forest would be quality move
Last season, Fulham were tipped to be the division’s whipping boys. Under Silva, however, they flirted with European football before tailing off at the end of the season.
If Silva is the man who comes in to replace Cooper, Forest could be making a great appointment. The challenge, however, will be to prise him away from Craven Cottage.
The 46-year-old manager won a league title with Olympiacos working under Marinakis. It would be very interesting to discover whether or not he’d fancy working for him once more.
Hopefully, Forest can claim a big win over Wolves on Saturday and Cooper earns a stay of execution.
However, if he doesn’t and the inevitable happens, Silva would be a very shrewd move by Forest.
