Nottingham Forest star Morgan Gibbs-White has now publicly backed Steve Cooper as the man to transform the club’s fortunes.
Over the past week, Cooper has come under scrutiny, with a 5-0 drubbing at Fulham last Wednesday leaving the head coach in a perilous position.
Evangelos Marinakis was so disgruntled with that performance that he tossed his matchday pass into a bush outside Craven Cottage.
Still, the owner kept faith with the head coach for the Wolves game, where Cooper made seven changes and oversaw a 1-1 draw.
Gibbs-White wants Cooper to stay
Gibbs-White has captained Forest on a few occasions this term and he’s now spoken about the gaffer. He thinks that he’s the right man for the job still.
Gibbs-White said on TalkSPORT earlier today (12/12; 11:50): “He means the world to me and for what he’s done for the club and the city in general, I don’t think anyone could have done that. We think he’s the perfect man for this job. Saturday was a good reaction.”

Forest face Tottenham at the City Ground on Friday night and they desperately need Gibbs-White to spearhead a win. The Reds have slipped just five points away from the relegation zone and they’re looking over the shoulder.
Time for action from Gibbs-White and Forest teammates
As far as Cooper’s job is concerned at Forest, actions now speak far louder than words. On Friday, the players need to showcase they care about the manager and play for him.
In fairness, they all did just that against Wolves last weekend. They battled for every single ball and they probably should have won the game against Gary O’Neil’s team.
Gibbs-White is a player who makes no secret of his love for Forest head coach Cooper as a coach. He won the England under-17 World Cup with the coach and typically gives his all.
Now, Forest – and Cooper – need him more than ever. The challenge is for him to turn up on Friday and put in a performance that can make his head coach proud.
