Rarely-seen Nottingham Forest defender Omar Richards looks to have put his injury nightmares behind him and is now ready to play for Olympiacos.
The Reds landed Richards in the summer of 2022 for a fee of £8 million from Bayern Munich.
Disaster struck shortly after he’d checked in, however, with Richards suffering a hairline fracture on his shin.
After he’d recovered from that injury it was deemed necessary that the player underwent a hernia operation and the player missed the entire season.
Richards now ready to play again
The 25-year-old joined Olympiacos on loan during the summer transfer window and he’s been trying to get fit.
Now, according to a report from To10, Forest defender Richards is ready to play again and it’s believed that he’s made an impact in training.

Carlos Carvalhal has been appointed as the new manager of the Greek giants and it’s been suggested that Richards has made an ‘excellent impression’ on the new boss.
There is a consensus that a first-team appearance might have to wait. However, an outing for the B-Team looks to be extremely close and this represents a big step.
Richards can still become a figure at Forest
There is still time on the side of Richards when it comes to playing for Forest. In the first instance, however, he needs to get into the Olympiacos team and play regular football.
Richards is a left-back who loves to get forward. He made 17 appearances in the Bayern Munich team during 2021/22 and clearly, he’s got some talent.
Forest will hope that Richards can now stay injury-free. With Nuno Tavares failing to make the grade and likely to head back to Arsenal, the Reds could find themselves in need of a left-back next season.
It’s been a horrible time for Richards and it’s hard not to feel some sympathy for him. The whole Forest community will now look forward to seeing how Richards gets on during his time in Greece.
