Nottingham Forest have been linked with Julen Lopetegui but another Premier League club are also interested.
The 57-year-old recently turned down an approach from Saudi Arabia because he’s adamant that the Premier League is where he sees his next move.
Forest are sticking with Steve Cooper as their head coach for now. However, in recent weeks his position has come into question after just one win in 12 games.
Forest-linked Lopetegui has been out of work since leaving Wolves on the eve of the new campaign. He’s keen to get back into management and would like a club in the Premier League.
Premier League club fancies Forest-linked Lopetegui
According to Marca, the Reds are now facing competition from Crystal Palace for Lopetegui.
Right now, Forest are keeping faith in Cooper but it would be very naive to think that Evangelos Marinakis isn’t considering his options.
All the reports have pointed to Cooper being under pressure and given the team’s current form, it’s not a surprise that Forest are being linked with Lopetegui.
Palace could be about to decide on their own, with Roy Hodgson coming under increasing pressure too.
The Eagles were beaten 2-1 by Liverpool on Saturday and also lost to Bournemouth on home soil last week.
Lopetegui is a wanted man
Having managed Real Madrid, Sevilla and the Spain national team, it’s not anticipated that Lopetegui will be out of work for long.
Palace are monitoring the situation, although it was claimed last week that they are also keeping Cooper at close quarters.
It’s easy to see why Forest fancy Lopetegui. He has an excellent pedigree and he’s proved during his managerial career that he’s a born winner.
The 57-year-old is a wanted man and if Marinakis wants him as much as some media outlets have made out, he may have to move quickly to get him at Forest.
