MLS outfit Colorado Rapids are trying to give Gustavo Scarpa the chance to end his Nottingham Forest nightmare. The Reds performer is up for sale in January, amid a dreadful loan spell with Olympiacos.
Scarpa was sent to the Evangelos Marinakis-owned club during the summer transfer window. However, he’s failed to get going and has made just 11 appearances in all competitions.
The 29-year-old signed for Forest in January 2023. Scarpa signed after winning the Golden Ball for his efforts in a title-winning campaign for Palmeiras but just never got going.
A tricky attacker, Scarpa seemed like a good character at Forest and his highlight came when Ian Wright raved about him following a 2-0 win over Leicester City on Match of the Day.
The statistics don’t lie, however, and they don’t do Scarpa any favours for his time at Forest. He made just 10 appearances for the club and failed to register a single goal contribution.
Scarpa now wanted by MLS outfit
This news comes courtesy of Globo Esporte who believe that Colorado are very keen to sign Scarpa. The new season starts in February for MLS outfits and they’re trying to reshape their squad now.

It was claimed yesterday that Atletico Mineiro were keen to sign Scarpa from Forest. However, it’s likely that the player will need convincing to abandon his European dream and move back to Brazil.
Colorado throws Scarpa a different option altogether. However, if it’s a choice between the MLS and a return to his homeland it feels somewhat likely that he will choose the latter.
Forest need to cut Scarpa loose
Whilst Danilo, Felipe and Murillo have all worked out at Forest, Scarpa is one of the Brazilian contingent that simply never got going at the City Ground.
It was never through a lack of determination for Scarpa but he simply fell a little bit short of convincing Steve Cooper he had enough to become a first-team regular.
Ultimately, Forest are keen to get rid of Scarpa but they want the right transfer fee. It’s believed that £3.5 million will be enough to get Forest to accept and Mineiro are keen to pay it.
Now, Colorado might be willing to match that bid. One way or another Forest need to do whatever it takes to ensure that Scarpa’s £30,000-a-week is away from the wage bill come the January transfer window.
