Nottingham Forest coach Gary Brazil has given his take on Tottenham Hotspur forward Brennan Johnson potentially playing at the City Ground.

The Forest academy manager has outlined how the fans at the City Ground should welcome him tonight.

So, what has Gary Brazil said about former Nottingham Forest forward Brennan Johnson? Let’s take a look.

Gary Brazil comments on Brennan Johnson ahead of Nottingham Forest vs Tottenham Hotspur

Well, Nottingham Forest will take on Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League on Friday evening. The match will be held at the City Ground.

Brennan Johnson could start for Tottenham against his former club Forest. The Wales international forward started against Newcastle United last weekend. He played well.

Spurs head coach Ange Postecoglou is very likely to keep Johnson in the starting lineup against Forest. The youngster joined Tottenham from the Reds in the summer of 2023. The transfer fee was £47.5 million.

Ahead of a potential return to the City Ground, Forest academy manager Gary Brazil has given his take on how the home fans will react to Johnson.

Brazil told The Athletic: “It will be weird for him to come back. I hope and imagine that Forest fans give him a good welcome.

“They should do, because they should be aware of just how much the club means to him. That will never go away with Brennan, or his family. I am sure they will remain massive supporters of Forest.

“It will be odd for him to play against ‘his’ club. But I also know that he is a professional; that he will do everything he can for his new employers. He will want to perform well and he will want to win.”

Nottingham Forest fans should give Brennan Johnson a warm welcome

In my view, the Nottingham Forest fans at the City Ground should give Brennan Johnson a welcome back.

After all, Johnson is a former Forest academy player who made it into the first team. Of course, it was disappointing to see the Wales international forward leave in the summer of 2023, but the club got almost £50 million for him. That is huge.

Johnson also did well for Forest in the past two seasons. In 2021-22, the forward scored 18 goals and gave 10 assists in 47 Championship starts and helped the team get promoted.

In 2022-23, the forward scored eight goals and provided three assists in 33 Premier League starts. Steve Cooper’s side survived in the top flight of English football, just as they will this season.
