The relationship between Evangelos Marinakis and Steve Cooper at Nottingham Forest is thought to be strained. Now, a report has explained what senior figures at the club have advised the pair to do.

Cooper is under increasing pressure at the City Ground. His team were thumped 5-0 at Fulham a week ago and Marinakis was extremely upset after that result.

He did persist with his manager, however. On Saturday, Cooper rolled the dice to the tune of seven changes and his team priced a spirited performance during a 1-1 draw with Wolves.

Tomorrow night, Forest face Tottenham at the City Ground. Morgan Gibbs-White and Cheikhou Kouyate have come out in support of the manager and the Reds need a big performance.

Senior figures call for Forest resolution

According to The Athletic, Forest senior figures have demanded action between Marinakis and Cooper. It’s claimed that other powers that be want the two to sit down and strengthen their relationship.

It would make a lot of sense for the two to air on grievances towards each other. After all, they’ve been good for each other in some sense and Forest have flown with the two at the club.

Marinakis has backed Cooper heavily when it comes to finances and he can have no complaints there. Furthermore, Cooper has proved to his doubters that he is capable of being the bride and not always the bridesmaid.

Cooper desperate for big Forest performance against Tottenham

The Forest head coach celebrated his birthday on Sunday but he’d dearly like the best present of all tomorrow night. Beating Tottenham would be just the celebration that he and Forest fans desperately crave.

In recent weeks, Cooper has seen his Forest team slip back into the relegation picture. As a result, he’s desperate for a big win to ease that pressure and temper the speculation over his future.

It’s such a shame that Cooper and Marinakis aren’t seeing eye-to-eye at the moment. Hopefully, a couple of big results can help change the landscape for Forest in the next few weeks.
