Ange Postecoglou has been discussing Brian Clough ahead of tonight’s trip for his Tottenham team to Nottingham Forest.

The manager has been a breath of fresh air during the 2023/24 campaign after arriving from summer.

Postecoglou will manage at Forest for the first time tonight and they arrive having just thumped Newcastle 4-1.

His opposite number tonight is desperate for a big win, with speculation rife over the past week regarding his future.

Postecoglou praises legendary Forest figure Clough

The Reds will find things tough tonight but on home soil, they will fancy being competitive against Tottenham.

Postecoglou was quizzed on Forest yesterday and he claimed that he’s expecting a tough game tonight.

During his press conference, he was also asked about Clough and whether he used to watch Forest during the glory years.

He told Football London: “It wasn’t a direct influence on me but he is one of those managers who have an indelible impact on the game.

“When you think about Nottingham Forest winning the European Cup, that is quite an achievement and English football at the time was dominant throughout Europe, but it’s still a remarkable achievement.

“People like Brian Clough have this unique place in our game where their impact is something that stays forever for a number of reasons.”

Forest must take game to Tottenham tonight

Postecoglou should be aware that Forest will bring the noise tonight at the City Ground.

The atmosphere at home this season has been average but given the speculation over Cooper, tonight promises to be noisy.

Forest battled hard for a point against Wolves last weekend and they need a similar level of determination tonight.

Postecoglou’s team have caught the eye this season and their attacking style of play has been the envy of the Premier League.

It’s nice of the Tottenham boss to praise Clough and hopefully, Forest can produce a performance tonight that the late great would be proud of.
