Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Matt Turner has come under fire after his performance against Tottenham on Friday night. The stopper was at fault for the second goal as Dejan Kulusevski put the seal on a comfortable win.

Forest lost 2-0 to Spurs to further confirm their status as a relegation-threatened football club. The Reds lost thanks to goals from Richarlison in the first-half and Kulusevski in the second.

It’s hard to grasp completely what Forest stopper Turner was doing for the second goal. Once again the Reds custodian saw his kicking bite him on the proverbials and he won’t want to see the incident back.

The Reds now face Bournemouth next Saturday in desperate need of all three points. With the teams below them facing winnable games over Christmas, Forest are in desperate need of a lift.

Huckerby hammers Turner for his Forest showing

Nobody likes to be critical for the sake of it. Forest star Turner needs to get a handle on his kicking pretty sharpish though if he’s to keep his place in the Forest team.

He did plenty of good things on Friday night, but the error he made was a real shocker and one that he will want to forget as quickly as possible.

Huckerby was shocked at the moment when Turner compounded Forest to another defeat at the City Ground.

He said on X: “The definition of awful goalkeeping”, followed by an embarrassed emoji, suggesting that the goalkeeper didn’t cover himself in glory.

Turner has to improve key aspect of his game

This was a real moment of embarrassment for Forest goalkeeper Turner. Just when the Reds were coming into the game, his moment of madness basically killed any moment.

In the past week, Forest stopper Turner has been nominated for USMNT Player of the Year. The 29-year-old can clearly play but he’s got to rid himself of these stupid errors, particularly when it comes to his kicking.

Huckerby was right on this occasion. Now, Forest boss Steve Cooper has a big decision to make over who plays in goal when the Reds face Bournemouth next Saturday.
