Brice Samba has delivered an instant reaction to the news that Steve Cooper has been sacked by Nottingham Forest.

The Reds have parted company with the manager who took them back to the Premier League for the first time in 23 years.

Cooper has departed with the club just five points adrift of the relegation zone and after just over two years with the club.

The 44-year-old is expected to be replaced by Nuno Espirito Santo who is flying in for talks with Forest this evening.

Samba reacts to Forest sacking Cooper

This is such sad news for fans to contend with. Regardless of the club’s form this season, Forest have ultimately fallen short given the players at Cooper’s disposal.

Now, Samba has reacted on X. The goalkeeper was integral under Cooper during the promotion-winning campaign of 2021/22.

Forest sold the goalkeeper when they’d won promotion back to the Premier League, with the player citing a desire to move back to France.

Now, he’s posted an applause emoji and a love heart on the Forest official Twitter account after Cooper was announced to be exiting the club.

Samba was voted as the 10th-best goalkeeper in world football at a recent FIFA event and his absence is sorely missed between the posts.

Time will tell whether Forest have got this right

Nuno Espirito Santo will come to England later today and add to his CV by replacing Cooper. Only time will tell if this is the right decision.

The Reds will have to get things sorted pretty sharpish on the pitch. Forest need wins on the board and hopefully, things can change against Bournemouth on Saturday.

Samba clearly thought highly of Cooper during his time at Forest. He was incredible when he played under the boss at the City Ground and earned a move to Lens.

It’s so touching that his previous players are coming out in support of him and it speaks volumes to the kind of man that Forest have sacked.
