Nuno Espirito Santo has just arrived at Nottingham Forest to take training for the very first time. The 49-year-old has been appointed as the club’s new head coach replacing Steve Cooper.
Forest told their previous head coach of their decision to make a change yesterday afternoon. He leaves the club after two memorable years at the football club but on the back of one win in 13 matches.
Espirito Santo has penned a two-and-a-half-year contract with Forest and he will take charge of Saturday’s game against Bournemouth.

The 49-year-old has a wealth of experience in management and he hopes to hit the ground running. He takes over Forest on a run of one win in 13 matches and the team sit five points clear of the relegation zone.

The Portuguese manager’s last job in football came at Tottenham. He was only afforded 17 games in charge, winning eight of them and losing seven in North London.
It’s perhaps his work at Wolves that he’s best remembered for. He led them to promotion to the Premier League and then oversaw back-to-back seventh-place finishes.
His most recent job in football came with Al-Ittihad. There, he won the league and cup double but was sacked for political reasons after losing a game to a team from Iran.
Espirito Santo needs Forest fan backing
The head coach deserves to be backed. He’s the man who has been chosen by Evangelos Marinakis to take Forest forward and hopefully, he can spark an upturn in fortunes.
The Reds can ill-afford to slip any closer to the relegation zone. They currently have a five-point buffer to play with and Espirito Santo will hope to get some wins quickly.
Naturally, fans will be upset that Cooper has departed the club. He was universally popular on Trentside but the challenge for Forest fans now is to throw their weight behind supporting Espirito Santo.
