Nottingham Forest held Newcastle United to a draw at St James’ Park and Morgan Gibbs-White was simply incredible. The player captained Forest in the North East and what a performance this was!
Gibbs-White is 23-years-old and this season he’s been striving for some consistency. Here, this afternoon he was simply outstanding in the Forest playmaking role.
The player produced a performance that belied his vast potential. Gibbs-White didn’t claim a goal contribution during this outing but he covered every single blade of grass.
Forest star Gibbs-White steals the show
This was a performance that said to every Forest fan that Gibbs-White is desperate to keep this football club in the Premier League.
Who Scored showcased just how brilliant he was. For starters, he made four key passes during the afternoon and he probably did deserve to get himself a goal contribution.

His pass accuracy was also remarkable during the game. Despite playing in a position that typically involves taking risks, he completed 88.2% of his attempted passes.
Intriguingly, Gibbs-White was class defensively for Forest too. He won five tackles during the game and that was as many as Gonzalo Montiel managed from right-back.
Gibbs-White now strives for consistency
Forest need more performances like this going forward. The Reds restored the five-point gap between them and the relegation zone and that is massive at this stage.
Gibbs-White was praised by departed Forest boss Steve Cooper when he was in charge and he knew what he was capable of. With Nuno Espirito Santo coming in it was always likely that he’d maintain his form given that he’s spoken fondly of the boss before.
The challenge facing Gibbs-White now is one that he’s faced since he signed for Forest. He must maintain his consistency and produce this kind of showing on a more frequent basis.
