Brennan Johnson swapped Nottingham Forest for Tottenham on transfer deadline day back in August. The player has now come under fire from some Spurs fans for his performance against Brighton on Thursday night.
Johnson left Forest for around £50 million, with the Reds wanting the sale with Financial Fair Play hanging over their heads.
It’s hard to argue that Johnson was a brilliant player for Forest. He scored eight Premier League goals during 2022/23 and in the promotion-winning campaign, he scored 19 times.
He left the City Ground with the best wishes of all supporters who were sad to see him go. Earlier this month he played against Forest for the first time, although injury forced him out of the action early doors.
Tottenham fans say the same thing about ex-Forest star Johnson
Following the game against Brighton that saw Tottenham lost 4-2, Johnson came in for some criticism. He didn’t have his best game and looking at the fan reactions, supporters want to see more.
In fairness, some of the same reservations were had when he was at Forest. In particular prior to the World Cup when it was claimed in some quarters of the fan base that he was saving himself from injury.
Johnson had far more good moments than he had bad ones at Forest. However, the expectation for him to shine at Tottenham will increase now that he’s playing for a bigger club.
The 22-year-old has got off the mark for Tottenham. He scored in a 2-1 defeat to Wolves and he’s also claimed three assists during his time with Spurs.
After the game on Thursday, however, it would appear that some Tottenham fans are now in agreement regarding ex-Forest star Johnson and his current form. We’ve taken a look at some of the reactions to the former Forest player.
