Kelvin Wilson has now been speaking about Nottingham Forest striker Chris Wood amid his recent purple patch.

The man who served Forest as a player has been speaking to Notts TV.

With Wood in fine form since the departure of Steve Cooper from Forest, we’ve looked at what Wilson has been saying…

Wilson raves about Forest striker Chris Wood

The man who made 185 appearances for Forest knows a thing or two about coming up against top attackers.

He played for Forest largely in the Championship but during his time at Celtic, he was part of some big European nights at Parkhead.

Wilson also came up against Wood when the striker was starting out in England and he’s explained what it’s like to play against the Forest striker.

He told Notts TV: “I’ve played against him and he doesn’t try and complicate things and he’s always a handful. He knows what he’s good at. He’s very good at putting his body in the way and he doesn’t always jump for headers that much.

Wood has been fantastic since Nuno Espirito Santo came to Forest, scoring four goals.

Before that, he’s perhaps struggled a little bit for consistency and had found the net four times in 22 appearances since joining Forest for £15 million from Newcastle.

Forest would still welcome another striker

Nothing against Wood and just lately, he’s been brilliant, however, there is a sense that Forest would welcome another striker.

Taiwo Awoniyi is on the mend but right now he’s still injured, which provides Espirito Santo with a problem.

Divock Origi is still on Trentside but he’s not done a great deal to convince anyone that he can still play in the Premier League.

The 28-year-old has played for just 177 minutes at Forest but as he’s only on loan from AC Milan, it’s not entirely clear what the future holds.

At present, Wood is the main man to spearhead the Forest attack – and he’s playing well.

However, if injury strikes before Awoniyi returns it could leave Espirito Santo extremely short and perhaps another option will be sought.
