Obvious Nottingham Forest conundrum now stares Nuno in the face after 2-2 FA Cup draw – opinion

Nottingham Forest drew 2-2 with Blackpool in the FA Cup this afternoon and Odysseas Vlachodimos was handed a start between the posts.

It wasn’t a great afternoon for the Greek stopper as the Tangerines went 2-0 up and now a conundrum is staring Nuno Espirito Santo in the face.

Following the performance from the 29-year-old this afternoon, we’ve looked closer at the performance of Vlachodimos.

Vlachodimos provides Forest a big conundrum

It certainly wasn’t in the script that Jordan Gabriel would return to Forest and score against the Reds this afternoon. However, that is what happened.

His goal came after Forest stopper Vlachodimos stayed rooted to his line, forcing Gonzalo Montiel to try and head clear.

He could only find Gabriel and his quality header flew into the net occupied by the Greek custodian.

If the first one was bad, the second was just ridiculous.

A cross into the box seemed to miss everyone and when Oliver Norburn arrived unmarked, question marks had to be hanging over Forest stopper Vlachodimos who was on the floor for some strange reason.

Espirito has to go and sign a goalkeeper

Forest have been linked with a move to sign Jose Sa. Espirito Santo had the Portuguese goalkeeper with him at Wolves and on the face of things, he wouldn’t be a bad option.

Goalkeeping errors are crippling Forest each and every week.

Last week, against Manchester United, Matt Turner was guilty of more woeful kicking and here today, Vlachodimos didn’t cover himself in Forest glory.

Espirito Santo will be learning a lot about his team every single week and there is now one problem that must be strikingly obvious in his mind.

A new goalkeeper looks like a must this month and it will be interesting to see if Forest can get one over the line.
