Nuno Tavares may have failed to make a huge impact at Nottingham Forest since his move from Arsenal in the summer of 2023, but he has interest from Marseille.

That is according to L’Equipe, which has reported what Tavares’s stance is regarding his future.

So, what has been reported about Marseille and Nuno Tavares? Let’s take a look.

Marseille want to sign Nuno Tavares

Well, according to L’Equipe, Marseille want to sign Nuno Tavares Arsenal in the January transfer window.

Tavares is on loan at Nottingham Forest at the moment. The left-back made the move from Arsenal in the summer of 2023.

The 23-year-old is expected to stay at the City Ground at the end of the season, but there is already speculation that Forest could send him back to Arsenal.

Tavares has failed to make a huge impact at Forest. The 23-year-old Portuguese left-back has made one start and two substitute appearances in the Premier League for the Reds this campaign.

L’Equipe has reported that Marseille are looking for a new left-back in the January transfer window and are eyeing a move for Tavares. The report in the French news outlet has claimed that the 23-year-old is open to a return to Ligue 1.

My View: Nottingham Forest should send Nuno Tavares back

In my view, Nottingham Forest should try to terminate Nuno Tavares’s loan deal with Arsenal. I do not see the point of head coach Nuno keeping the left-back.

Tavares is not going to make himself a regular in the first team anytime soon. Under former Forest manager Steve Cooper, he was not even getting into matchday squads.

The left-back had a loan spell at Marseille in 2022-23. The French club clearly rate him, which is why they are back in for him again.

Maybe Tavares, who cost Arsenal £6.8 million in transfer fees (The Guardian), would be better off going back to France and playing in Ligue 1 again.
