So, what has Neville said about Forest – and what has the club done this afternoon? Let’s take a closer look…

What Gary Neville has said about Nottingham Forest

Well, it would appear as though the man who starred in Dragon’s Den earlier this week has taken aim at Forest – although he doesn’t think it’s necessarily their fault.

Today, it’s come to light that Forest have written to the PGMOL in the aftermath of last night’s 3-2 defeat to Brentford.

The gripe of the club is the decision for VAR not to look at Ivan Toney’s goal after the striker moved the ball behind the referee’s back before it was taken.

In fairness, it’s not in the remit of VAR to get involved in that situation and it’s hard to imagine much happening on the back of this.

Neville has taken to X after hearing of Forest writing to the PGMOL and he believes Arsenal and Liverpool have started something off. He posted…

In our view, it’s important for Forest to gain some clarity – but in this situation, it does feel as though Neville has a bit of a point.

Forest have to focus on improvements

This can’t continue. Forest are becoming akin to a broken record and it’s hard to moan too much here.

Okay, Toney moved the ball but the defending was nothing short of horrible and the goal was still preventable.

Matt Turner doesn’t cover himself in glory; whilst Michael Dawson thought Callum Hudson-Odoi should have joined the end of the wall.

Forest are right to ask for clarity from the PGMOL but this will fall on relatively deaf ears.

All Forest are going to do is get a reputation for being a team that can’t lose without an element of sour grapes.

That’s the last thing that Nuno Espirito Santo and his team need and Neville definitely has a point here.
