Nottingham Forest were all set to sign Carlos Alcaraz from Southampton before Juventus nipped in and tempted him to Italy.

This is according to Italian journalist Mirko Di Natale.

So, what has been said about the Forest interest in Alcaraz? Let’s take a closer look…

Juventus set to sign Nottingham Forest-linked Carlos Alcaraz

Well, it would appear as though Forest were all set to sign Alcaraz with the player keen on coming to the City Ground.

Mirko Di Natale has claimed that his colleague Eduardo Burgos believes Alcaraz was all set on moving to Forest.

However, Juve pushed hard for his signature and managed to wrap up the formalities in just a few hours.

Now, the player looks set to sign for the Old Lady in the coming hours, with the deal set to be finalised before the deadline.

Alcaraz has scored four goals for Southampton during 2023/24 following their relegation back to the EFL last season.

The youngster might have been viewed as a replacement for Orel Mangala at Forest, with the Belgian set for a move to Lyon.

Forest perhaps wise not to sign Alcaraz

It’s fair to say that things haven’t really worked out for Alcaraz at Southampton and perhaps Forest are better off out of this one.

The player is only 21-years-old – and he did score against Forest last season – but he’s hardly taken the Championship by storm during 2023/24.

Alcaraz would perhaps have been viewed as one for the future. However, a hefty fee wouldn’t have made that viable from a business sense.

Juve are taking the player on loan until the end of the season but will include an option to buy him for £35 million in the summer.

It’s never easy to take when to miss out on a player who is seemingly so close to signing.

However, in our view, we’re not entirely sure Forest will be too bothered about missing out on Alcaraz to Juventus.
