‘Nothing has materialised’… Nottingham Forest unlikely to be able to sign ‘unbelievable’ player

Nottingham Forest look unlikely to do a deal with Chelsea for defender Trevoh Chalobah before the transfer window closes tonight.

This is being reported by Ben Jacobs.

So, what is being said about Chalobah and why won’t he be joining Forest? Let’s take a closer look…

Nottingham Forest unlikely to sign Trevoh Chalobah

The Reds had been linked with a move to sign the Chelsea outcast earlier during the transfer window – and it’s not the first time they’ve shown an interest.

Chalobah is down the pecking order with Chelsea and he wasn’t included in the 25-man squad for the first half of the campaign.

Now, according to Ben Jacobs, it would seem as though Chalobah won’t be signing for Forest before tonight’s deadline.

Forest, West Ham and Atletico Madrid have all shown interest in a loan deal for the player but nothing appears to be advancing.

Jacobs also claims that Chalobah would prefer to play for a team in Europe – or at least one that has a chance of playing in European competition next season.

Rio Ferdinand is a big fan of Chalobah and previously called the Forest-linked player ‘unbelievable’.

Chalobah isn’t really a priority this window

Although the 24-year-old does appear to have some potential – and pedigree of playing for Chelsea – it’s hard to see another centre-back being a priority this window.

Forest wanted the player back during the summer, with Steve Cooper seeing a £25 million bid thrown out on transfer deadline day.

Now, it would appear that he’s remained on the shortlist at Forest but Chalobah isn’t close to signing for anyone.

With a new goalkeeper being worked on, Forest don’t look to have much more work to do in the market.

In our view, that bodes well and if the Reds can focus on getting a few more players out of the club, it could represent a pretty successful transfer window.

It will be intriguing to see what happens with Chalobah and perhaps he will remain a target for Forest should the club secure Premier League survival.
