Nottingham Forest failed with a last-gasp bid to sign goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher from Liverpool.

This is according to the Daily Mail.

So, what has been said about Forest and their interest in Kelleher? Let’s take a closer look…

Nottingham Forest made bid for Caomhin Kelleher

Well, it would appear as though Forest left no stone unturned in the quest to land another goalkeeper ahead of the transfer deadline.

Keller has been with Liverpool for a number of years, rising through the youth ranks to be the understudy to Alisson Becker.

According to the Daily Mail, Forest bid £15 million for Kelleher but the offer was immediately rejected by Liverpool.

Kelleher has played 12 times for the Reds this season, including twice in the Premier League.

At 25-years-old there will come a point where Kelleher goes in search of regular football but that won’t be this window.

Forest are now turning their attention to Matz Sels instead – with the Strasbourg player heading over for a medical.

Forest should revive Kelleher interest this summer

It’s a shame that Forest couldn’t get Liverpool to budge on this one with Kelleher considered a very useful goalkeeper.

Jurgen Klopp is a big fan though and he’s previously called the Republic of Ireland player ‘exceptional’.

Sels does look set to sign for Forest before tonight’s deadline but he doesn’t feel like a long-term option.

With doubts over Matt Turner and Odysseas Vlachodimos, it feels as though Forest might look for another stopper in the summer.

That should see Forest return to this interest in Kelleher and they’d be foolish not to test the resolve of Liverpool again.

The player has made 33 appearances for Liverpool and that doesn’t seem a lot for a player of such quality.

With that in mind, surely the summer would be an ideal time for Forest to try and prise Kelleher from Anfield.
