Nottingham Forest look to have walked away from a deal to sign Chuba Akpom from Ajax before tonight’s transfer deadline.
The latest update has come from Fabrizio Romano.
So what has been said about Forest and the pursuit of Akpom? Let’s take a closer look…
Nottingham Forest walk away from Chuba Akpom deal
Well, this link didn’t get too far down the line and it now appears to be dead in the water as the deadline nears.
Forest wanted to sign Akpom on loan until the end of the season and then agree to pay £14 million if Premier League survival was secured.
Now, Fabrizio Romano has just provided an update on the state of play – and it would appear as though things are no longer advancing.

He claims that Ajax rejected the formal bid from Forest and provided a counter-proposal.
However, Forest deemed that unacceptable in the words of Romano and things are not advancing.
One slight caveat, however, is that Akpom would apparently jump at the chance to sign for Forest this month.
Now, it remains to be seen if anything else comes to light before the deadline later this evening.
Forest shouldn’t push for Ajax striker
If Forest really wanted another striker, why, oh why, have the club left it so late in the day to start shopping around?
The Reds have to get their act together in the transfer market and their current recruitment approach just isn’t sustainable.
Forest would obviously like more firepower but ultimately time is running out and in signing Rodrigo Riberio, they already have a backup option.
Forest-linked Akpom, 28, has scored nine goals in 20 appearances but ultimately, the player is unproven in the Premier League.
As a result, the fee that was being mentioned made little sense and Forest are wise to walk away.
