Nottingham Forest head coach Nuno Espirito Santo has now delivered a devastating injury blown involving Chris Wood.
The boss has been speaking with The Athletic.

Well, it never rains is pours at Forest and no sooner had Taiwo Awoniyi returned to give Forest a boost up top, than another striker gets himself injured.
Forest striker Wood was withdrawn against Arsenal at half-time and it didn’t appear that he was injured as he came off the field at the interval.
Now, however, the head coach has explained that Wood will be missing for some time as Forest aim to stay in the Premier League.
Espirito Santo told The Athletic: “Wood is out. He is going to be out for some time. Hopefully not a long time but let’s see. We are frustrated but this happens. Chris felt uncomfortable so we did a scan and there is a minor injury there.”
Forest striker search now makes sense
It came out of the blue when Forest opted to try and sign Chuba Akpom on deadline day but now it makes sense why the Reds wanted another striker.
Taiwo Awoniyi is now the only fit option in the squad and ultimately Espirito Santo is relying on a striker with injury concerns of his own to stay fit.
Wood being injured is a huge blow given that he’s the top Forest goalscorer this season and he will be sorely missed.
If Awoniyi was to now get injured again, it would leave Forest seriously short and that would prove detrimental to the club’s attempts to survive relegation.
Hopefully, Forest can get Wood back quicker than anticipated and he can pick up the mantle of scoring goals once again.
