What Harry Toffolo said about Forest gem Joe Gardner

Well, it would appear as though the talented player has made quite the impact on the first-team squad at the City Ground.

Gardner was summonsed from the bench with extra time looming after Gonzalo Montiel signalled to be withdrawn.

The 18-year-old got his first minutes in the Garibaldi for the senior ranks and it proved a proud moment for the youngster.

After the game, Toffolo praised the talented academy product and posted the following on Twitter:

Gardner had been on the bench in Forest’s defeat to Brentford but on that occasion, he didn’t get on the pitch.

Last night was different, however, and afterwards, Gardner even suggested that he’d have taken a penalty had been called upon!

Toffolo could prove useful role model for Gardner

Toffolo hasn’t become a Premier League footballer in the convention route, spending time playing in all four divisions in professional English football.

As a result, someone like the 28-year-old could prove a useful player for Gardner to look up to – and he also plays as a full-back.
