Anthony Elanga has been sharing why he chose to leave Manchester United and sign for Nottingham Forest during the summer transfer window.
The winger has been speaking with Soccer News.
So what has Elanga been saying about his departure from Old Trafford to Forest? Let’s take a closer look…
Anthony Elanga shares why he signed for Nottingham Forest
The talented youngster is busy making United wonder why they dared to sell Elanga for £15 million to Forest in the summer.
A Sweden international, Elanga has made 11 goal contributions this season with five goals and six assists to his name for Forest.
Now, he’s been quizzed on his summer departure from Manchester United – and it appears he didn’t leave because of Erik ten Hag.
He told Soccer News: “Was Ten Hag the reason I left United? No, I wouldn’t say that. I just wanted to play, that was especially important to me.
“I’m young and I don’t want to sit on the bench all season, you know? When you’re young you want to play, you want to make mistakes, you want to take risks.

“But he wasn’t the reason for my leaving. There I mainly focused on myself, not on others.”
Elanga has been shrewd business
It’s quite remarkable just how good Elanga has been for Forest and at £15 million he looks like an absolute steal already.
At 21, there is still bags of time on his side for him to improve and hopefully, he can fire Forest to safety this season.
Forest star Elanga is an all-action sort of player and given his age, he doesn’t get everything right.
Last weekend, he scored Forest’s first goal but was guilty of giving the ball away in the build-up to the winning goal that Newcastle scored.
Nonetheless, the positives have outweighed the negatives for Elanga this season and he looks like a very good piece of business.
The Reds are often critiqued by their own supporters when it comes to recruitment.
However, with Elanga, it looks as though Forest have firmly struck gold and long may his current form continue.
