Mark Clattenburg has hit back at Gary Neville after he spouted his reservations about his new role at Nottingham Forest.
The former Premier League referee has been speaking to The Times.
So, what has Clattenburg said about Neville after his Forest claims? Let’s take a closer look…
What Mark Clattenburg has said about Gary Neville
Well, it would appear we have a bit of beef going on here – and as a Forest employee we have to back Clattenburg.
The hypocrisy from Neville is evident and the former FIFA referee clearly isn’t happy with the Sky Sports pundit.

Clattenburg has now hit back and said what Forest are doing is absolutely no different to what Sky Sports – who employ Neville – are doing.
He told The Times: “I am disappointed that Gary Neville has come out with what he said. His employer Sky Sports, employs ex-referees to help fans and viewers understand the Laws of the game, and Nottingham Forest are just doing the same.”
Clattenburg makes fair point after Neville Forest claims
It is a bit rich for Neville to come out and use words like ’embarrassing’ to come out and describe the appointment Forest have made.
Dermot Gallagher is employed by Sky Sports to give his opinion on referees – and he said Forest should have had a penalty at the weekend.
Doing that is absolutely no different to what Forest are trying to do now – given they have been on the end of some awful decisions.
Clattenburg’s role is unheard of. In other countries, however, it’s not unpopular to see referee analysts appointed and perhaps others will now take note.
As with any appointment there are probably pros and cons with this move from Forest.
However, Clattenburg will now be providing reports on referees so that Nuno Espirito’s team can grasp what the referee will be like before a game even gets underway.
