Alan Shearer claimed during the first half of tonight’s game that Nottingham Forest striker Divock Origi did something that would have infuriated him when he was a player.

The pundit is doing co-commentary on the live coverage for the BBC.

So, what was it that Origi did that would have would Shearer up had he been in his position? Let’s take a closer look…

What Alan Shearer said about Forest striker Divock Origi

Well, it came in the 12th minute of the contest when Forest were pressing to try and break the deadlock.

Origi was in possession and bearing down on the Manchester United goal, with Forest striker Taiwo Awoniyi in support in the box.

The 28-year-old opted to go for goal with Andre Onana making a routine save to thwart the Belgian player.

Shearer was less than impressed and advised what would have happened had Forest man Origi done that if he was playing as a striker.

He told the BBC: “I have to say, just watching that, I was just thinking what would have happened in my day had that have happened.

“Awoniyi kind of just throws his arm up as though to say maybe next time. I don’t think I’d have been that nice.”

Origi looked vastly improved during first half tonight

The player has been a slow burner at Forest and in January, it looked as though Origi may well head to the MLS.

However, an injury to Chris Wood meant that Forest had to keep Origi and he’s now getting himself more minutes.

On Saturday against Aston Villa, he claimed an assist and here he was vastly improved with some good moments.

Origi was starting the contest out of position for Forest but he applied himself and has been one of the team’s better players.

Shearer was right in this moment though. He deserved a bit of a verbal volley from Awoniyi but at least the player does look to be improving.
