In the least surprising news from the weekend, Chris Sutton has shown zero sympathy towards Nottingham Forest after the Liverpool debacle.
The pundit has been speaking on the It’s All Kicking Off podcast.
So, what has Sutton had to say about the incident involving Forest? Let’s take a closer look…
What Chris Sutton said about incident in Forest clash against Liverpool
Well, this won’t come as much of a surprise to plenty of Forest fans who often believe Sutton has it in for the club.
The Nottingham-born pundit has claimed previously that he supported Forest as a boy – although it doesn’t always feel that way.
After the weekend’s howler from Paul Tierney, Sutton has been discussing the incident and he doesn’t really see the problem like the Forest fans do.

He told the It’s All Kicking Off podcast: “Liverpool weren’t really helped by referee Paul Tierney. I’m sick and tired of this whole debate with Nottingham Forest and the blame game. How many minutes was it after the whole incident? Almost two minutes.
“The whole attack on Paul Tierney, he left himself open to that and I’m not disputing any of that but the owner coming on the pitch and some of the Forest coaches getting involved…I hope they showed the same kind of anger towards Hudson-Odoi, I think it was.
“There were two occasions when Forest players could have cleared the ball. So don’t blame Paul Tierney, a minute and 52 seconds after that whole incident. Had they gone straight up the other end and scored I’d probably understand it a bit more.”
Sutton has some points but he’s made a glaring oversight
For someone who was a really good player, Sutton has pretty much missed the point being made by Forest fans with this one here.
Not too many are saying that Forest shouldn’t have cleared it but that along with the fact that the referee made a mistake can be factually correct.
As Mark Halsey said this morning, Tierney has made a huge error that quite simply shouldn’t happen in the Premier League.
Fair enough, Sutton does mention the time after that it took for Liverpool to score from the restart.
Alan Shearer claimed on Match of the Day that the time was relevant as what if Forest had scored after receiving the ball back in a dangerous area.
Sutton seems to have gone a little over the top here and he would be wise to put himself in the shoes of Forest fans.
