Nottingham Forest manager Nuno comments on Taiwo Awoniyi
Ahead of the game, Forest manager Nuno has given a positive update on the situation of Taiwo Awoniyi.
Awoniyi is returning from a groin injury, and Nuno does not want to take unnecessary risks with the former Liverpool prospect, but he has noted that the striker is improving.

Nuno said about Awoniyi, as quoted in NottinghamshireLive: “He is closer. Everybody knows what happened with Taiwo, he was out for a long time with injury and then started playing more than he should have due to the circumstances of the squad.
“He is improving. The decision of not starting him was with the previous game, in the FA Cup, in mind as he played 90 minutes and had a short period of recovery. But he ended the game well on Saturday and is OK.”
My View: Nottingham Forest need Taiwo Awoniyi
In my opinion, Nottingham Forest need Taiwo Awoniyi to be fully fit and at his best in the final weeks and months of the season.
Forest are among the teams fighting for survival in the Premier League this season. Nuno’s side need to score more goals.
Awoniyi is a very good striker who scores goals. He found the back of the net 20 times in 43 matches in all competitions for Union Berlin last season before his move to Forest in the summer of 2023 for £17.5 million (Sky Sports).
The Nigeria international striker has made 12 starts and four substitute appearances in the Premier League for Forest this season. He has scored six goals and given three assists in those games.
