41-year-old now wants Nottingham Forest star who was ‘extraordinary’ against his team

Nottingham Forest are certainly going to be fending off some interest in Morgan Gibbs-White during the summer – and a massive club are now monitoring him.

Naturally, when something like that happens, the reports intensify ten-fold. Last week, it was claimed that West Ham and Tottenham were watching him, with Spurs taking Brennan Johnson from Forest last summer.

Gibbs-White has scored four goals and claimed five assists for Forest during the 2023/24 campaign. At 24-years-old he’s considered a player with an abundance of talent and perhaps more crucially, he has a very high ceiling.

The player swapped Wolves for Forest in the summer of 2022. Shortly after the Reds won promotion at Wembley, it quickly came to light that Gibbs-White was Steve Cooper’s number one target.

Now, Forest will be facing some seriously tough questions about Gibbs-White in the summer. With financial fair play still lurking in the background at least one top player will leave, with Murillo also linked with top clubs.

Last season, Forest beat Arsenal 1-0 at the City Ground in May. That day, Gibbs-White was called ‘extraordinary’ for his showing by BBC pundit Garth Crooks.

Arsenal monitoring Forest star Morgan Gibbs-White

According to the Daily Star, Arsenal are one of several clubs looking into the prospect of signing Gibbs-White from Forest. The title chasers will have a significant bounty of cash and are now in the race to sign the 25-year-old.

Having forked out a fee that could eventually rise to £42.5 million to sign Gibbs-White, Forest won’t be letting him leave on the cheap.

It goes without saying, however, that Forest will have to sell one of their star players in the summer. If Nuno Espirito Santo can’t keep the Reds in the Premier League, a few top stars could be on their way.

At this stage, it’s claimed that Mikel Arteta is keeping tabs on Gibbs-White at Forest. The Gunners are firmly in the title race at the moment and they do look to be a club on the up.

Forest will hope star man can be kept beyond the summer

It would be seriously sad if Forest are forced to sell Gibbs-White this summer. He’s always given his all for the Reds and he’s developed into a firm fan favourite since his arrival.

According to Who Scored, Gibbs-White is at the top of the stats for Forest when it comes to key passes, dribbles and shots on goal during the current campaign.

With that in mind, it’s likely to take a seriously big offer from another Premier League club to tempt the Reds into a sale. Forest will want to make a profit and Arsenal might have to dig deep.

It’s a sorry state of affairs that Forest might find themselves close to the PSR threshold once again in the summer. As a result, the club must learn from this whole debacle and ensure that recruitment is more shrewd in the coming years.
