After tying down a new contract for Willy Boly, it’s now come to light that Nottingham Forest want to give another of their defenders a new City Ground deal.
The Reds have been synonymous with transfers since winning promotion to the Premier League. Now, it would appear that another hectic window will be in store – regardless of the division the clubs find themselves in.
Forest were deducted points last week, with four being the punishment for breaching PSR rules. Since then, Murillo has been linked with a move away from Forest – along with Morgan Gibbs-White.
Now, it’s claimed that Forest want to make sure they do keep some of their current squad. It’s been suggested that Boly could be handed a new deal at the club but another defender is wanted for a contract extension too.

Nottingham Forest to offer Ola Aina contract extension
Well, according to The Telegraph, Forest look like being very busy once again at the end of the season – with Aina at the forefront of the club’s thoughts over a new deal.
It’s been a largely successful maiden season for Aina at Forest. He’s played in a number of positions to aid the cause, with either full-back spot considered positions he can call his own.
Aina has made 14 appearances for Forest during the 2023/24 campaign having signed on a free transfer from Torino in the summer. He’s not actually featured since a 2-1 win over Manchester United in December, however.
The 27-year-old recently returned back from the African Cup of Nations with an injury. At the tournament, he helped Nigeria finish second and earned rave reviews for his performances.
After signing for Forest last summer, Aina quickly established himself in the team. Now, it would appear as though the Reds are keen to extend his one-year deal and keep him at the club.
Aina deserves new City Ground deal
It’s been a real shame that Aina returned from the AFCON with an injury. Forest could welcome his quality in the team as they bid to arrest a poor run of form.
With the team now slipping into the relegation zone after the points deduction, Forest will hope to have Aina available to them very soon.
Given that his performances have been largely good this season, Forest won’t want to risk Aina leaving the club on a free transfer and it seems action could be taken.
Who Scored shows that Aina has only been dribbled past on six occasions for Forest this season. Furthermore, he’s made 29 clearances and his defensive qualities are there for all to see.
Hopefully, Forest can get Aina tied down to a new deal very quickly. In our view, it would be great to go into next season knowing that a player who can play in either full-back position is at the City Ground to stay.
