Nottingham Forest under-21s have reached the final of the Nottinghamshire County Cup by beating Eastwood Community FC – and Jack Nadin put on a real show.

No fewer than 618 fans packed into the Halbrooke Stadium to see a young Forest side in action. Seasoned B-Team players such as Nadin, Detlef Esapa Osong, Ateef Konate and Zach Abbott all started the game.

It was the performance of Nadin which caught the eye, however, and he starred throughout the contest. Forest goals were scored by Konate, Jack Perkins and Kyle McAdam scored the goals which set up a final with Basford.

The Reds along with Notts County and Mansfield are now permitted to enter under-21 sides into the County Cup. Now, Forest will hope to put their name on the trophy during the final in May.

Nadin stars as young Forest side reach County Cup Final

It’s great to see Nadin playing well and enjoying his football once again. Back during the 2021/22 campaign, he was stretchered off during the FA Youth Cup semi-final win over Chelsea and only made the bench for the final against Manchester United.

Nadin had been instrumental during that particular run. He’d scored in every round leading up to the semi-final and showcased some serious quality during the competitions.

The talented 19-year-old has actually stepped up to play for the B-Team this season in the Premier League 2 campaign. He’s made six appearances and grabbed one goal.

Nadin looked composed throughout this contest. The United Counties League opposition had no clue what to do with the attacking midfielder and he was proved a constant menace throughout.

The non-league outfit did have some chances during the game. Aaron O’Connor, formerly of Mansfield Town, had a great chance but fluffed his lines.

Who is Jack Nadin?

The teenager has a lot of experience playing youth team football and typically plays as an attacking midfielder. He can, however, operate as a striker or on the left wing.

Nadin is very often the creative spark for Forest and he also knows where the net is. Back in December 2022, Nadin helped Forest under-18s claim a point against Manchester City and earned some rave reviews.

Last night, his talent was there for all to see. With the number eight shirt on his back, he showcased some superb ball-playing qualities and was always looking to carve out chances for Forest.

Nadin did get a taste of men’s football earlier this season. He came off the bench as the Reds entered the EFL Trophy for the first time and were beaten by Harrogate in the first group game.

As for the future, hopefully, Nadin can continue to kick on. He looks very capable in possession of a football and under the tutelage of Warren Joyce, the future could be very bright for him at Forest.
