Jeff Stelling believes Nottingham Forest did something extraordinary before their game with Everton – and Ally McCoist isn’t a huge fan of it.
Just one normal day of Nottingham Forest Football Club is all we ask!
In a week where the club priced many youngsters out of watching games with ludicrous ticket increases, it was somehow not the worst thing done by the club.
Forest went one better yesterday but essentially questioning the integrity of Stuart Attwell who was on VAR duty yesterday.
The official is apparently a Luton fan and conveniently he missed three penalties for Forest in the 2-0 defeat at Everton.
The statement released by Forest was slammed by Alan Shearer and Micah Richards who poked fun at the club.
However, Stephen Warnock provided a small defence, suggesting two of the decisions were stonewall penalties.
Now, Stelling and McCoist have added their insight and they had some disagreements regarding the club’s views.

Jeff Stelling and Ally McCoist disagree over Nottingham Forest statement
Well, this has caused quite a stir with a number of media outlets, journalists and pundits weighing in.
The Reds were in the wrong to basically question the integrity of Attwell after the game but ultimately his decisions were ridiculous.
Stelling was on air on TalkSPORT yesterday and he and McCoist discussed the statement released by Forest after their game with Everton.
The conversation live on the TalkSPORT Breakfast Show went as follows:
Stelling: “Assuming Nottingham Forest have made his complaint in advance, I just wonder, it could have solved the situation if the PGMOL has just said ‘yeah okay, let’s not put ourselves in a situation where Stuart Attwell is accused of bias, let’s just replace him on this occasion’.”
McCoist: “But where does it stop, Jeff?”
Stelling: “I think it’s taken on a game-by-game basis.”
McCoist: “I don’t think you can do that.”
Stelling: “Most of the time clubs are not going to complain about an official but if they are taking the extraordinary step of pointing this out in advance, maybe the PGMOL should have erred on the side of caution.”
McCoist: “I can’t agree. I think it opens a can of worms. And where does it stop?”
Forest must stick to their guns but they have to be so careful
With all of this kicking off on the week when Forest have their financial fair play appeal heard, it feels either really silly or a complete Marinakis masterstroke.
Forest have every right to feel aggrieved but they must be so careful that the Premier League doesn’t completely throw the book at them.
The Reds are in hot water over their statement yesterday it would seem and hopefully, attention can turn back towards the football very soon.
Forest are right to stick to their guns over this. Attwell should never have been involved in that fixture yesterday if he is a Luton fan and we definitely think Stelling has a sizeable point.
