Nottingham Forest would now be willing to allow one of their star players to leave this summer, but their priority is to keep him.

A tricky few weeks await Forest in the summer transfer window with the PSR deadline quickly approaching them at the end of the month.

Players are going to need to be sold by Forest over the coming weeks with Evangelos Marinakis looking to avoid a repeat of last season’s points deduction.

And there are several players who are available to be sold over the coming weeks with the likes of Matt Turner receiving interest from the MLS.

However, Forest are also receiving interest from clubs like Tottenham Hotspur in their bigger players like Morgan Gibbs-White.

But it now seems Forest have made the decision that they’d be open to selling one of last season’s top performers if they need to.

Nottingham Forest would accept summer exit for star player

It is claimed Forest are only needing to raise around £20m this month to balance the books ahead of the PSR deadline.

So the need to sell one of their higher value assets this month may not be as essential as some may have thought following the conclusion of the season.

However, Forest do have players like Murillo who they value extremely highly following his first season in the Premier League.

But it does seem as if Nuno Espirito Santo‘s side are coming to the conclusion that they would be willing to offload one of their most impressive players from last season.

According to the Daily Mirror, Forest are now willing to accept the potential sale of Callum Hudson-Odoi this summer.

The report does claim Forest would like to keep Hudson-Odoi in an ideal world following his impressive displays during the 2023/24 campaign.

One of the clubs who are believed to be interested in the former Chelsea man this summer is Tottenham who are beginning to really look at Forest as a club to pick players from.

Callum Hudson-Odoi sale may not be crucial this summer

Hudson-Odoi enjoyed a solid 2023/24 with a return of eight goals in the Premier League alone with one assist provided.

Former Forest midfielder Jermaine Jenas was blown away by the 23-year-old when he provided a brace against Sheffield United in the final weeks of the campaign.

“It was Callum Hudson-Odoi who shone for Forest. The quality was there to see,” Jenas said.

“So much has been spoken about him. Technically it’s an incredible finish for the first goal on the bounce. A bit of top-spin and bend it to get into that corner. It’s a real quality finish.”

But he is not a player who will command in excess of £50m like Forest have planned for Morgan Gibbs-White and Murillo.

So at a reported valuation of £25m-£30m, Hudson-Odoi may not be an essential sale this summer if Forest can get through this month having met the PSR deadline.
