Premier League club think they will sign Forest-linked defender
This news comes regarding Lyon defender Jake O’Brien.
It’s been claimed today by The Sun that Everton believe they are in pole position to land O’Brien ahead of Forest and West Ham.
O’Brien is an uncompromising defender who is being highly sought after this summer.
The talented player has been courted by Forest as they aim to fill the void left by Moussa Niakhate.
He has joined Lyon for a fee worth around £27 million and now Forest have a gap in their squad.
O’Brien is available for around £17 million this summer and there appears to be some kind of race to sign him.
If O’Brien does leave the Ligue 1 outfit this summer Crystal Palace will be owed some sort of fee given that he came through their academy.
O’Brien would be brilliant Forest signing
The 23-year-old would definitely be a signing with the future in mind if Forest can pull it off.
Everton might feel they’re close to winning the race for O’Brien but Forest could yet snare the Toffees if they can offer regular football.
Sean Dyche already has Jarrod Branthwaite and James Tarkowski and they kept a healthy number of clean sheets last season.
Forest therefore could offer him more football and a platform to truly prove himself in the Premier League.
O’Brien is a player with a nice profile and he would certainly be a player to excite the Forest fan base if the Reds could get it completed.
