One player has now been made to pay for his disappointing 2023/24 campaign at Nottingham Forest.
It is currently decision time for many a football club across Europe, with transfer plans being drawn up and verdicts made on which players have earned the right to stay.
Unfortunately for one player who failed to shine at Nottingham Forest last season, he has now been told to find a new club…
Zlatan Ibrahimovic banishes Divock Origi at AC Milan after underwhelming loan spell at Nottingham Forest
Zlatan Ibrahimovic – who is now Director of Football at AC Milan – has just told Tutto Mercato Web that Divock Origi is “not part of the First Team” at the San Siro anymore.
The decision comes after the Belgium international made just six Premier League starts on loan at the City Ground last season, scoring only one goal in 22 appearances across all competitions.
Ibrahimovic said: “Origi and Ballo-Toure have been called up, but they will play for Milan Futuro (reserve side) because they are not part of the First Team project.”

With the likes of Rafael Leao, Christian Pulisic, Noah Okafor and Samuel Chukwueze already at AC Milan, the Belgian needed to do something special on loan at Nottingham Forest to impress those back in Italy.
While Origi failed to do that, we can sympathise with him a bit, as Steve Cooper – the man who signed him – only lasted until December before being replaced by Nuno Espirito Santo, in a season where Nottingham Forest were far from slick in terms of attacking play under either manager.
Nuno Espirito Santo could surely secure a cheap deal
While the 29-year-old hardly set the world alight at Nottingham Forest, Nuno seemed to like him.

The Portuguese tactician hailed Origi for his performance against Aston Villa back in February, and in our view, a cheap deal is surely there to be done after Ibrahimovic’s comments.

We believe Nottingham Forest can do better, but if Nuno wants an experienced option to bolster his attack this summer, AC Milan would presumably agree to let the man from Oostende leave with relative ease this summer after banishing him to the reserves.
