Newcastle want talks with ‘quality’ £15m Nottingham Forest star but Nuno wants to keep him

Nottingham Forest will hope to add a number of quality players to their ranks before the Premier League gets underway in August.

The aim for the 2024/25 campaign is for the Reds not to become embroiled in a relegation fight and start competing for a mid-table spot.

One thing that Forest don’t need this summer is for any of their top stars to leave the City Ground.

The Reds managed to get to the end of the last PSR cycle with their numbers in order following the sale of Moussa Niakhate to Lyon.

The likes of Morgan Gibbs-White, Murillo and Callum Hudson-Odoi have all been linked with moves away from the club but now there is no pressure to sell.

Today, it’s been claimed that one player might be the subject of interest from another Premier League outfit.

Newcastle could revive interest in ‘quality’ Nottingham Forest player

Another Forest player who has been the subject of interest is Anthony Elanga.

Newcastle were holding talks with the winger when Forest were negotiating a deal to sign Elliot Anderson for £35 million.

However, Forest let Odysseas Vlachodimos go to the North East instead but they might still fancy more talks with Elanga, according to The Northern Echo.

The Reds landed the Sweden international for £15 million from Manchester United and he enjoyed a solid maiden campaign on Trentside.

Elanga scored five goals and claimed nine assists as he helped the Reds remain in the Premier League for another campaign.

When he was at United Elanga was called ‘quality’ by Ralf Rangnick and at 22-years-old he’s a player who is clearly talented.

Forest should demand top money from Newcastle for Elanga

The Magpies are the masters at demanding top dollar for their star players and now Forest must make a stance with their own.

Elanga was brilliant for the Reds last season and replacing him would take some serious spending.

As a result, Forest must stand tall here and refuse to sell unless they receive a very substantial sum from Newcastle.

It’s highly unlikely that Elanga would kick up a fuss if he has to stay at Forest and he clearly relished the regular game time he received last season.

Forest have met their PSR guidelines and now they have to prepare for the new season with their star players remaining as part of the squad.
