Nottingham Forest have allowed all of their loan players from last season to return to their parent clubs.
The Reds utilised the loan market with a very limited amount of success and that is something to improve on this summer.
Forest did learn some lessons with their permanent signings last summer but the loan market remains something for the club to master.
Forest took two full-backs on loan last season, with Nuno Tavares signing from Arsenal and Gonzalo Montiel joining from Sevilla.
Tavares now looks close to joining Lazio, whilst Montiel is currently trying to win silverware with Argentina at the Copa America.
Last night, Montiel was given a start as Argentina beat Canada to progress to the final and some intriguing comments were made about him.

National media deliver intriguing verdict on Gonzalo Montiel
The player never really got a proper chance to shine but when Nuno Espirito Santo came to the club, he looked largely decent.
He starred in games against Newcastle and Manchester United around Christmas but was largely second in command to Neco Williams.
Perhaps it wasn’t Montiel’s fault entirely that he didn’t get more of a chance in the Forest time and perhaps a strategy change might have helped him.
Last night, ESPN said about his performance: “A shaky start as he failed to contain Shaffelburg, but once Argentina took control, so did Montiel.
“He’s the kind of player who needs to get accustomed to the rhythm of the game more so than any other player. Came off in the 70th minute.”
Forest will now have bigger fish to fry than Montiel
These comments do make intriguing reading but ultimately, the ship has probably sailed for Montiel at Forest.
Now, the Reds have to prepare their squad for next season and perhaps a new singing can fill the void left by Montiel.
It looks as though Eric da Silva Moreira has been given a squad number this week and maybe he will get a chance under Espirito Santo.
A right-back doesn’t look like an immediate priority for Forest and perhaps Montiel is going to have to look elsewhere for a new club to play for.
His days at Sevilla appear to be numbered – as they bid to raise some funds – but the chances of him rocking back up at the City Ground look slim.
