Nottingham Forest maintained their unbeaten start to pre-season on Tuesday night with a victory over Millwall.

Nuno Espirito Santo has to be impressed with what he has seen in the early stages of this summer’s efforts with his side now three games unbeaten.

The Reds have now won two of their three friendlies with the only draw coming against Sunderland on Friday night.

However, Forest were able to come out on top against their Championship opposition on Tuesday despite Millwall’s best efforts to disrupt the flow of the game.

But the Premier League quality shone through with one Forest player making Millwall’s Jake Cooper look like a deer in the headlights.

Nottingham Forest player wowed vs Millwall

Two wins out of three can’t be complained at with Forest having had a good run out in Spain against two solid Championship sides in recent days.

Sunderland certainly provided a stern test with Regis Le Bris’ side looking physically fit with the starting XI playing around 60 minutes in the Spanish heat.

However, it was a different challenge altogether with Neil Harris’ outfit as they looked to implement their physical nature on Forest despite it only being a friendly.

One Forest player, in particular, was still able to get the better of the Championship side with Morgan Gibbs-White showing his ‘quality‘.

The midfielder put on a show for Nuno’s side and it was apparent he had left Millwall defender Cooper exposed for the opening goal.

‘Looked like a deer in the headlights when Morgan Gibbs-White pinged a lobbed ball over the defence for the first goal,’ journalist Toby Bryant wrote after the game about Cooper for London World.

Despite being run ragged by Gibbs-White, it was apparent the journalist still thought Cooper put on a solid showing but the moment against the 24-year-old really left a mark on his performance.

‘A few misplaced passes too but otherwise decent as he managed a full 90 minutes against Premier League opposition.’

Morgan Gibbs-White wants to remain at Nottingham Forest

Forest fans need no reminder as to how impressive Gibbs-White looked last season as he netted five goals and provided 10 assists in the league alone.

That has naturally seen interest from the likes of Tottenham Hotspur arrive for Gibbs-White this summer.

However, according to journalist Ben Jacobs, the Englishman is keen to remain at Forest for the upcoming campaign.

“I think he’s happy to stay at Forest. I don’t think it’s quite a Murillo situation, at this stage. I think it’s more likely that he does remain,” he said.

“The merry-go-round in the last two weeks of the window is going to be the key stage.”
