The saga involving Ramon Sosa and Nottingham Forest is showing no sign of reaching a climax any time soon – and now a new update has emerged.

Late last week it was claimed that Forest were nearing an agreement with Talleres to secure the signing of the 24-year-old winger.

However, his club have moved the goalposts somewhat and are now asking for around £18 million plus a string of add-ons for his signature.

Sosa is a target who has been identified by Forest as someone who can bolster the wide options available to Nuno Espirito Santo.

The player is yet to play in Europe and it’s thought that the Paraguay international is keen to move to Forest this summer.

Ramon Sosa acts as Nottingham Forest fail with bid

Over the weekend it emerged that a Brazilian club had also had a bid accepted and it is more attractive to Talleres than the one Forest have put on the table.

Now, it’s come to light that Sosa has endured a bust-up with President Andres Fassi and was asked to leave the training ground.

The winger wanted to join Forest but now that move is in the balance with Forest yet to make an offer deemed acceptable.

Sosa enjoyed a quality campaign during 2023/24, scoring seven goals and six assists during a fruitful season.

Now, his move remains in the balance and it would appear as though his bridges are burning by the day at Talleres.

Forest must either pay up or move on to the next target

The season is now a little over three weeks away for Forest and Espirito Santo will hope to have his squad sorted for the opener.

Sosa is a player that Forest have clearly scouted and who the club think can do a job but they now have to put up the cash or move on.

Forest don’t have time to wait on any internal politics with Sosa and clearly his current club aren’t really going to budge on their valuation.

Sosa typically plays on the left and that does make his arrival a particularly attractive one for the football club.

However, this won’t be the first time Forest have been disappointed with a target and it won’t be the last.

This deal could be one that’s now not possible and Forest must move to the next player on their list of summer targets.
