Nottingham Forest are preparing for a third straight season playing in the Premier League with the pre-season now in full swing.

Forest have added five new players to their ranks with the latest coming in the shape of £12 million defender Nikola Milenkovic.

Marko Stemenic got the ball rolling but signed for Olympiacos on a season-long loan straight away.

Elliot Anderson has signed from Newcastle, Eric da Silva Moreira joined from St Pauli and Carlos Miguel has also checked in from Corinthians.

More players will likely be signed before the transfer window closes – with quality over quantity very much the order of the say.

During the team’s recent trip to Spain, the club played three matches and for Friday’s clash against Elche, Evangelos Marinakis was present.

Now, what he said to the team during a meeting with the players at their base in Spain has come to light.

What Evangelos Marinakis told the Nottingham Forest squad

According to the club’s official website, Marinakis had an evening meal with Nuno Espirito Santo, Ross Wilson and the Head of Football Operations, Ed Henderson.

The quarter discussed plans for the new campaign in meticulous detail and it’s thought that another rendezvous will take place when Forest play Olympiacos next month.

Also in the article published on the club’s official website, it’s been suggested what Marinakis said to the playing squad during his time in Spain.

The speech centred on the value of the bond and team spirit that has continued to grow within the group.

Marinakis emphasised the transformative power of unity and demanded that the group fight, survive and, promise never to give up when wearing the shirt.

Forest must kick on in the Premier League this season

To stay up two seasons on the trot is no mean feat but Marinakis will be demanding more from the 2024/25 campaign.

Espirito Santo will know that he’s under pressure to start getting results and kick Forest further up the table.

Finishing 16th and 17th means they have a crack at the Premier League for a third successive campaign but a relegation battle must be avoided this season.

Espirito Santo will likely get the tools to work with in the way of more signings and there won’t be any excuse by the time the campaign gets underway.

It’s good that Marinakis has reiterated the need for everyone to stick together and it does feel as though things could be different across the club this season.
