Manager raves about ‘very special’ star who will sign for Nottingham Forest in £11m deal

Nottingham Forest are edging closer to the signing of Jota Silva from Vitoria Guimaraes with an announcement close.

Nuno Espirito Santo has moved quickly to bolster his squad with wide players the order of the day for the gaffer.

Forest were only linked with Silva yesterday but this morning Fabrizio Romano confirmed that the 24-year-old was heading to England.

Silva has already scored a goal during the 2024/25 campaign, netting the only goal in a 1-0 win over Floriana in the UEFA Conference League.

He’s a player who typically played on the right wing last season, scoring 15 goals and claiming seven assists.

With his arrival at Forest set to be announced, Vitoria manager Rui Borges has seemingly confirmed the deal too.

This is a big move for all parties with Forest signing a player with a very high ceiling and Vitoria receiving a tidy sum.

The total value of Silva to Forest is thought to be around the £11 million mark and that should represent value for money.

Now, Borges has been discussing the transfer and he seemingly confirmed that Silva has departed his squad.

He told Sebastiao Sousa Pinto: “He’s a big example. There’ll be more players like Jota. He’s a special player, different, for the fans, for the team and for his colleagues.

“We have to live with that. I’m happy for him. It’s a step that he makes and that he aspires. He deserves it. He will make his path and we’ll make ours.”

Silva could be useful Forest addition

This deal looks like one that is very close to being completed.

Forest have moved to get this deal over the line with Espirito Santo keen to sign two wingers before the deadline.

Silva is a versatile performer and he can operate anywhere across the front with goals and assists very much part of his make-up.

The player has been compared to Jack Grealish in the past and if he’s half as good as the Manchester City star it certainly bodes well.

Once again, it looks as though Forest have been savvy in the transfer market and at 24, Forest are getting another player with resale value and more crucially, vast potential.
