Bundesliga side want to sign ‘poor’ Nottingham Forest player but negotiations are tough

Nottingham Forest want to sign some more players before the transfer window closes but there are also some deals to do the other way with many now deemed surplus.

With pre-season in its early stages, Nuno Espirito Santo chose to look at his whole squad but now some things are starting to take shape.

Joe Worrall, Emmanuel Dennis, Omar Richards and Josh Bowler didn’t feature against Villarreal and surely they will be leaving the club should offers be forthcoming.

Now, news of another potential departure has emerged and it will ultimately be one that is popular with the Forest fan base.

Nottingham Forest player has interest from Bundesliga

USA-based journalist Tom Bogert has claimed on Golazo America that Matt Turner now has interest from the Bundesliga.

However, he’s claimed that Forest aren’t proving easy to negotiate with and at this stage, nothing is too close.

Forest paid £10 million for Turner from Arsenal and it’s claimed that the goalkeeper would like to move to Germany.

There is no saying who the club is at this stage but interest is now picking up in the 30-year-old USMNT number one.

Turner began the season as the number one custodian last season and was also tasked with carrying the gloves when Nuno Espirito Santo came in.

However, after a number of high-profile errors, the club opted to bring in Matz Sels and who knows what would have happened had Turner played for the whole campaign.

It might not have been pretty and with Carlos Miguel now arriving on Trentside, Turner is the third-choice goalkeeper right now.

Forest have to offload Turner this summer

Although Forest have learned some lessons in the transfer market, this has to go down as some of the worst business the club has ever done.

Signing a player for £10 million isn’t a lot in the grand scheme of things but his performances have left a lot to be desired.

His kicking is atrocious and he cost Forest a number of goals during the 2023/24 campaign from his 21 appearances for the club.

Forest might be facing a losing battle to get a club to buy Turner – certainly for what they paid for him 12 months ago.

As a result, they might have to agree on a loan deal where the club pays a decent loan fee and at this stage that would be beneficial for all parties.

Hopefully, this one can be sorted quickly…
