Nottingham Forest rival Aston Villa for defender with £15.75m release clause

Nottingham Forest are still in the market for a few players this summer as the new Premier League campaign draws ever closer to the big kick-off.

Forest have been quite active in the grand scheme of things this summer – but perhaps not as active as they have been in the past.

Moving players out will still be something that Forest want to get sorted, with Matt Turner linked with a move to the Bundesliga earlier today.

Forest are in search of players for a host of positions and now it looks as though the defence is still causing Nuno Espirito Santo some sleepless nights.

The Reds have added Nikola Milenkovic during the current transfer window but now another central defender has been linked with a move to the City Ground.

Nottingham Forest want Sebastian Boselli

According to El Crack Deportivo in Argentina, the Reds are considering a move for the Uruguay defender this summer.

Forest aren’t alone in the race and will actually face competition from Champions League outfit Aston Villa.

Boselli is only 20-years-old and arrived at River Plate from Defensor Sporting in Uruguay having impressed in his home country.

Now, River boss Marcelo Gallardo is busy deciding what to do with the centre-back and he could be available for transfer.

The Argentine giants are keen to open up a gap in their squad to land another foreign player and that makes Boselli vulnerable.

Intriguingly Boselli has a release clause of just £15.75 million and that would make him extremely affordable for Forest.

Signing Boselli could hint at Espirito Santo tactic switch

When he came to the club in December, Espirito Santo often favoured a 4-2-3-1 system but landing another defending could showcase a desire to switch.

Forest have Murillo and Milenkovic already in the squad and adding Boselli would perhaps highlight a willingness to play three central defenders.

Boselli has made just 13 appearances for River Plate in total and it’s fair to say that that 20-year-old is short of experience.

However, Murillo was the same when he signed from South America and he’s not become a player worth in the region of £60 million after just one season in England.

Boselli was called up by Uruguay for the pre-Olympics tournament but they failed to qualify for the tournament in Paris.
