Nottingham Forest’s summer has been a busy one with the Reds in the thick of it on and off the pitch.

Thursday night saw Nuno Espirito Santo‘s side complete their final pre-season friendly of the summer in Greece against Olympiacos.

Forest were able to secure themselves a solid 4-3 victory against the Greek side also owned by Evangelos Marinakis.

And it was a night where some of the Forest players put on a real showing for those who traveled across Europe to go and watch them.

Anthony Elanga left Callum Hudson-Odoi seriously impressed against Olympiacos after scoring a stunning goal.

But the Forest fans have all been left saying the same thing on social media after watching their summer signing Elliot Anderson in action on Thursday.

Nottingham Forest fans left in agreement about Elliot Anderson’s Olympiacos display

Forest’s big signing of the summer has been Anderson when the Reds secured his services from Newcastle United.

There is no getting away from it, Forest spent big when they sought after the 21-year-old but it is clear they view him as a star for the future.

Anderson has played a big role in Forest’s pre-season although there were many left holding their breath after he was withdrawn through injury in the game against Forest.

Fortunately, Anderson passed the medical tests and returned for the following game where he has continued to impress.

And it seems as if the Forest fans certainly enjoyed his performance against Olympiacos on Thursday night.

Many took to social media where they shared their delight in how well the midfielder has took to life as a Forest player. One fan said, ‘Just wanted to spend this minute typing out how good Elliott Anderson is. We look far worse without him on the pitch #NFFC.’

Another fan kept it very simple by saying, ‘Elliott Anderson is a good, good footballer’. Whilst another has been left dreaming of a potential midfield partnership by adding, ‘Anderson and Sangare playing together in midfield and we’re a problem for a lot of teams this year.’

But one fan went into more detail questioning if Anderson could uproot Morgan Gibbs-White, they said, ‘Is everyone ready for the ‘Anderson is genuine competition for MGW’ because I am. Everyone’s trying to shoehorn him in the 8 facts are he’s looked every bit as good as mgw in preseason.’

Anderson had a big role in three of the goals, one fan stated, ‘3 x Anderson set pieces, 3 x goals! Unheard of! Some player him! The lads are playing well!’ Whilst another added, ‘It’s going to be interesting to see what Nuno does in regard to fitting both Anderson and MGW into our side, both quality players, nice headache to have, Anderson’s set piece deliveries are very good as well’.

Elliot Anderson has to start for Nottingham Forest

Having spent the type of money which Forest did on Anderson, it will be expected for a side to bring him straight into the starting XI.

However, the player has to also show his quality and that he deserves to be included in the side.

Clearly, Anderson has done just that and to the point of where some fans are even questioning whether he should be ahead of Gibbs-White in the pecking order.

It has been quite the introduction to life at the City Ground for Anderson and big things are now being expected of him over the coming months with the new campaign set to get underway.
