Nottingham Forest are still in the market for a striker before the transfer window closes as the Reds look to finalise their recruitment plans.

The Reds have Chris Wood – scorer of 14 Premier League goals last season – and Taiwo Awoniyi as their two main men at the moment.

However, the notion behind signing another one is pretty easy to understand.

Wood will turn 33-years-old this season and he can’t go on forever, with the New Zealand international in the final year of his contract.

Then there is Awoniyi who has scored some crucial goals since signing for Forest from Union Berlin in the summer of 2022.

However, his injury issues are a cause for concern and a younger striker would be welcome to ease the burden on his shoulders.

Now, news of a new link has emerged and it could prove to be an exciting one for Forest.

Nottingham Forest want Vitor Roque from Barcelona

According to Marca, Forest are one of the clubs that could now send a formal bid to Barcelona for talented striker Roque.

Forest aren’t alone in the race to land the 19-year-old striker this month, with Everton, Girona, Porto and Real Sociedad are all keen.

Barcelona want to recoup around £25 million for the player and they are willing to offload him during the current window.

Roque has made 16 appearances for the first team at Barcelona, scoring twice since his arrival from Brazilian outfit Athletico Paranaense.

When he was playing in his native country, the famous Brazilian striker Ronaldo said Roque would go onto become one of the best players in the world.

Now, the Reds might be readying a bid to sign the striker ahead of the transfer window closing later this month.

Roque is one for the future and he might not be what Forest need right now

Naturally, there won’t be too many fans turning down the chance to sign a player of Roque’s quality but there may be a settling-in period.

At £27 million Forest would want someone to come in and back an immediate impact on the team – and that might not be Roque.

As talented as he is, he’s still extremely raw and doesn’t have much experience of playing in Europe to speak of.

Still, it’s hard not to get a little bit excited by the fact that Forest are placing themselves in the mix to sign the top youngsters that Europe has to offer.

Forest need a striker before the window closes and with the links now becoming more frequent, it feels as though the club is stepping up the chase.
