The four signings Nottingham Forest are still trying to make this summer as Nuno plans more bids

Nottingham Forest are closing in on signing number seven this summer as Ramon Sosa prepares to jet into England from Argentina.

The winger will end a long summer saga by finally completing a deal at Forest – hopefully before the season gets underway on Saturday.

Sosa will bolster the options out wide, with Callum Hudson-Odoi, Anthony Elanga and Jota Silva the current options in those areas.

Despite a fruitful summer transfer window already, Forest aren’t done just yet.

A new striker is a given with Forest being linked to Vitor Roque yesterday as Barcelona prepare to sell one of their most prized young talents.

There are also other areas in need of attention and Nuno Espirito Santo hasn’t scrubbed out all of the items on his shopping list just yet.

How many players Nottingham Forest still want to sign this summer

It feels as though this might be a little bit excessive but if The Athletic are to be believed, Espirito Santo wants four more plays along with a new striker.

One of those will be Sosa in a wide position – although a new winger after him hasn’t been ruled out either.

It’s claimed that Espirito Santo wants another goalkeeper added to the ranks which feels like a bit of a strange one.

Forest have added Carlos Miguel to the ranks this summer and at 6ft 8in fans have been champing at the bit to see him in action at the City Ground.

There is also Matt Turner who was on the bench for Forest last week in the 4-3 win over Olympiacos.

It’s also claimed that Forest want to add another option at right-back which does make a bit of sense.

Neco Williams is linked with Atalanta and even if Forest decide to keep the Welshman the only other right-back option is the untried Eric da Silva Moreira.

It’s also believed that Forest are still keen to strengthen at centre-back.

Joe Worrall has been deemed surplus to requirements now and that leaves Murillo, Nikola Milenkovic and Willy Boly to fight it out for those places.

With Boly getting on and not enjoying the best of luck with injuries in the past, this would be a move that makes a lot of sense as Forest look to add some depth.

Forest can really kick on with a number of new signings

Last season, on a one-to-eleven basis, Forest were largely settled as a team in the Premier League – particularly after Espirito Santo was appointed.

However, the problem lied when players headed off to AFCON or injuries and suspensions took over.

Players like Divock Origi and Rodrigo Ribeiro did very little from the bench and it hampered Forest somewhat.

Forest are still a work in progress at this level and it will take time for the club to have a truly settled squad that can really kick on in the Premier League.

However, it looks like the intention is to ensure there is a lot in reserve this summer.

If Forest can get four or five more quality additions over the line before the window closes it would represent a real step in the right direction and give the club the best possible chance of avoiding the annual scrap against relegation.

Sosa looks set to be the first of this little flurry and now it will be exciting to see who follows him through the gates at the City Ground.
