Nottingham Forest defeated Manchester United in December and now they also have a huge chance to get their own back on the Red Devils in the transfer market.
Forest’s win over United in Nuno Espirito Santo’s third game in charge came against the odds and sent the City Ground into pandemonium.
Goals from Nicolas Dominguez and Morgan Gibbs-White gave Forest a first win over United for almost 30 years.
The relationship between Forest and United in recent years hasn’t been too rosy when it comes to the Reds trying to do business with the club in the transfer market.
Now, with United starting to do some digging around the availability of Danilo, Forest have a chance to hand the club a dose of their own medicine.

Nottingham Forest can gazump Manchester United over Danilo
Reports earlier this week claimed that United had now started to ask Forest questions about Danilo.
However, Forest must be feeling somewhat mischievous.
In 2021, Forest landed James Garner for a first loan spell and after impressing he returned on loan for the entire 2021/22 campaign.
The midfielder was immense, proving himself as a top Championship midfielder and helping Forest return to the Premier League for the first time in 23 years.
When it came to the end of the season, Forest tried to sign Garner permanently yet kept getting knocked back.
It was claimed that Erik ten Hag was going to have a look at him during pre-season and Forest went in search of new midfielders.
As Garner headed off on a tour of the USA to play very little football, Forest completed their squad and the midfielder wasn’t part of it.
Lo and behold, just weeks later, United did decide to sell Garner and let him join Everton for just £15 million.
Last summer, Forest encountered the same difficulties with Dean Henderson.
Although the goalkeeper missed half of the season with a thigh problem, Forest were still keen to do a deal for Henderson.
It was seemingly on for a long period of time and Forest chose to ride things out in the hope that they could tempt United into a sale.
Instead, United implied they were going to use Henderson and just a week before the season started, Forest still didn’t have a goalkeeper.
In true United fashion, they sold Henderson to Crystal Palace after Forest landed Matt Turner and Odysseas Vlachodimos.
Now, the tables could be turning.
Forest must play United at their own game over Danilo
The Brazilian is on the radar of a host of clubs, with it claimed this week that United wanted to know more information about his availability.
Based on the dealings with Garner and Henderson, Forest would be wise to play United like a fiddle – much like they did when the roles have been reversed in the past.
Danilo signed for Forest for a fee in the region of £16 million and after a number of quality performances in the Premier League, Forest should be demanded top money.
Just because it’s Manchester United that have come calling, it doesn’t mean that Forest should be bending over backwards to try and accommodate them signing the player.
Hopefully, the Reds stand firm and simply tell United that Danilo isn’t for sale unless a stupidly big bid is made for the player this summer.
Football has a knack of bringing up karma and United might live to regret how they treated Forest when it came to signing Henderson and Garner in the past.
